Nathan in the Oquirr Temple youth celebration

Friday 29th and Saturday May 30th Nathan and about 14,000 youth from nearly 20 stakes participated in the Oquirrh Temple Youth Celebration .They had been rehearsing for weeks now. Because of the number of youth , the program was presented in two showings dividing thes takes in half. Our youth performed Saturday. Mother and I thought we,d take the trax down town and not have to worry about driving and or parking. That seemed alright until the rain started to come down in torrents. We were partially shelterd by the trax stop structure. We'd not've been stuck but that the ticket machine would not take our bill.,and the driver wasn't going to wait10 or15 seconds. That was a little unsettleling but we were on our way in 15 rain blowing and pouring minutes. By time we got there, there was little or rain downtown. President Monson mentioned how they used to pray for good weather to put on these kinds of performances but this facility has changed all that. The ride back was comfortable and much better than we thought. However, It did not appear to have rained much where we live. You might have known that because our Lawn needed it.
As Prophet and President Monson entered, the youth joined in softly singing We Thank The Oh God For Prophet. That moment alone was a far inward reaching and moving experience.
The presentation, performed in song, dance, and narrative telling the story of fulfilling the prophecy (Isaiah2:2-3) " And it shall come to pass in the last days that the mountain of the Lord's House shall be established in the top of the Mountains ..." The presentation follows the time frame of the scriptures being fulfilled in a promised land "America" where only the restoration could have been accomplished. The Restoration of the Gospel and Priesthood Powers and Its keys directed by Divine Latter-Day R.evelation. The presentation continues in song and dance as the pioneers moving west and finally making the Salt Lake Valley the Saints' home and fulfilling the the former-day Prophets words, prophecies and blessings of this generation.
President Monson spoke briefly to the youth of this generation ,of the great work blessings before them.He prayed for our youth and left them the blessing to stay worthy and involved in the Lord's work.
Nathan was dressed in typical pioneer attire; earthy colored pants, long sleeves and wide suspenders. However, he was not going to wear his suspenders up and try to dance in a full wedgy so he let them just hang. It was probably the comfortable look of the day any way.
It was really moving to see him really getting into it stomping and slapping his feet and kicking up his heels. It even looke like he was having fun. After he said it would have been nice to have a couple more rehearsals. It's really marvellous to ponder the idea that this is the generation and youth the Lord spoke of when inPeter 2;9 saying,"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood,an holy nation, a pecular people; that ye should shew forth praises of him who called you out of darkness and into his marvellous light."
How remarkable to see these prophecies being fulfilled right before our eyes and being partakers of those blessings of the former-day prophets as well as modern-day revelations. That,s very special to know we are the children of the scriptures. What a responsibility and charge for us and the Youth of this generation. Our blessing as the seed of Ephraim to prepare the earth for the Second Coming of The Lord." Malachi 3:1," Behold I will send my messenger and he shall prepare the way before me... and shall suddenly come to his temple even the messenger of the covenant... and turn the heart of the fathers to the children and the heart of the children to their fathers lest I come and smite the earth with a curse."
How thankful Mother and I are for our children and their families. And the example you have set for one another and Nathan as well. Now we pray for him as we have done and do for you. These celebrations of the latter- day work have renewed our visions of the work to be done of this dispensation and that it may touch his heart and be an incentive to fullfil his blessings and receive those promises reserved for him as they are for each of you also.
How Proud we are that Nathan not only that he participated in this special celebration, but that it had an influence on him that he is not the same Nathan that began this experience ,but more thoughtful and inquiring particularly as we read scriptures in the evening together.
My prayer is that we may all be equal to the task where ever we are and when ever possible, that we may ask ,"and more used would I be."(More Holiness Give Me.") Please read and ponder the words of this song ..One of the favorites of my youth. #131

Be of Good Cheer

Sounds like it was a great experience for all (except the rain part). Thanks for sharing!
